LoL CS and gold efficiency — checking your own play by the minute
Updated: August 11, 2026
What CS per minute, gold per minute and damage per gold each tell you, and how to use them to find the one thing worth fixing.
Per minute, not totals
250 CS is excellent in a 20-minute game and poor in a 45-minute one. Only per-minute numbers can be compared to each other.
CS per minute reads both your laning and your farming routes. If you weren't losing lane but the number is low, you spent that time roaming or fighting — not a bad thing in itself, but you should check whether the time produced anything.
Damage per gold
More gold obviously means more damage, so raw damage totals flatter whoever farmed the most. Damage per gold strips that out.
It asks how much damage you got out of what you spent, which shows whether your items are earning their price. A low number usually means you're not in enough fights, or you're dying before you deal damage.
Deciding what to fix
- Check CS per minute against your peers first. If it's low, fixing fundamentals pays the most.
- If CS is fine but damage per gold is low, look at your teamfight involvement.
- If both look fine and you're still losing, look at vision and objectives.
Fixing several things at once tells you nothing about which one worked. Pick one, play a few games, then look again.
In-house records read cleaner
Solo queue throws different opponents at you every game, so the noise is huge. In-houses put you against similar people repeatedly, which makes your own change much easier to see. If your position inside the group went up, you actually improved.
